A Spooky Halloween Business Lesson

business

Did you ever go trick-or-treating?

As a kid I would devise a strategic plan to gather as muchcandy as I possibly could.

I would literally run from house to house.

Then my older brother and I got smart…

And we recruited our neighbor to take us on his golf cart.

All to maximize candy-collecting efficiency.

Gawd, it was fun.

You know who were always the best houses?

The ones who gave out full size chocolate bars.

(If you’ve ever experienced it, you know exactly what I’m talking about…)

It felt like winning the lottery.

Those king size bars were the equivalent of at least 8 standard bars.

And somehow always tasted so much sweeter.

This same concept applies to your customers in your business.

20% of them provide 80% of the revenue

Yet, somehow, this is so easy to overlook...

For example…

In my online basketball training business, we had our ideal customer…

And when our ideal customer came into our world, they’d buy 3-5 of our training programs.

And they’d work hard on training their basketball game…

Which made them such a pleasure to work with.

Then, we had our anti-ideal customer…

They’d buy a program, and realize that they had to actually do some work, and 2 days later asked for a refund.

Which made them not very fun to work with.

Where do you think most of our company revenue (and satisfaction) came from?

That’s right.

Working with our ideal customer.

Yet, often times I’d overlook this, and lose focus on who exactly we were aiming to serve.

Which loosened our content and our copy…

Which ended up bringing in more of our anti-ideal customer.

Ahhh, the things you learn by making mistakes, right?

So, let me ask you:

Who are your ideal customers?

And how can you bring more of them into your world?

That’s it for today.

Happy Halloween.

May your candy sack be filled with ideal customers.
