Avoid taking advice from these people
When I first started my business online I’d look up to others that I thought had “figured it out”…
→ The business owners who were crushing big launches…
→ The authors who were publishing bestseller books…
→ The speakers who were hurling words from stages…
Then my business started to do really well and I was invited into the rooms with some of these people.
And that’s when I realized:
Nobody has it figured out.
Even the people that think they do…
(Actually, they’re usually the ones playing an even more elaborate game to try and convince themselves that they do…)
This isn’t a knock on anyone.
It’s an honest confession, that we’re all just trying to figure it out.
Myself included.
I’ve sold multiple 7 figures of digital products online and can say without a doubt - the deeper you go, the less you know.
ā€£ Anyone can write a book.
ā€£ Anyone can speak from a stage.
ā€£ Anyone can launch a course.
So who should you learn from?
And how do you know who to trust?
My key guiding principle:
Don’t take advice from anyone who hasn’t done what you’re wanting to do.
(Myself included…)
If they haven’t been where you’re looking to go, then chances are they don’t know the way.
It would be like taking dating advice from your single friends...
Or driving lessons from someone without a license…
Not very smart, right?
So, when it comes to starting an online business (or literally anything in life)…
Look for those who have actually done what you’re trying to do.
Ironically, they’re usually the quiet ones (because they have nothing to try and prove - their existence is the proof…)
^ A giraffe doesn't need to convince anyone he's a giraffe. He just is. And he doesn't care if you believe he is or not, because he is.
Okay. That’s it for today.
The rain has stopped here in Banff and I am going to do another hike.
