The Power of Community in Your Business

“SH!T!”

Reaction takes over...

And I slam on my brakes…

The car comes to a screeching halt.

The truck coming in the opposite direction does the same.

And we both give each other a look, and nod; that was close.

Going from 70km/h to a dead stop in a matter of seconds will wake you up faster than an espresso martini come midnight.

The single lane back country road is now completely blocked by a line of cars in either direction.

All for… a dog.

Clearly lost.

And scared.

I put my hazard lights on and jump out of the car…

He doesn’t have a collar.

But maybe he has one of those gps chips that the vet can scan?

I slowly move closer.

Looking up, there must be 20 cars now stopped in either direction…

People are going to be pissed that we’re stopped in the middle of the road, I think to myself…

At this point, I’m just waiting for someone to start laying on their horn…

But that doesn’t happen.

Instead, everyone starts getting out of their cars to help...

Woah.

Small town Canada hits different.

A group of us surround the dog and begin to move closer… hoping we can get him into my car to take him to the vet.

The last thing any of us wants is for this dog to get hit by a car.

“CHARLIEEEEE! CHARLIEEEEEEEEEE!”

I hear the faint sound of yelling, far in the distance...

Realizing Charlie must be the dog, and those must be the owners, I yell back;

”HE’S OVER HERE!”

On the other side of the farm field, just beyond the barn, I see movement…

It’s someone running…

The worried voice gets louder as they get closer:

”CHARLIEEE! CHARLIEEE!”

As quick as it began, it’s over…

Charlie hears the call of his owner and bolts through the narrow path between the corn stalks…

He’s home.

A sigh of relief washes over all of us.

“Oh good, poor sweetie is back home with his family...”

-The older woman that got out of the truck says.

We all get back in our cars.

And drive away.

The Power of Community

If you sell an online course or you’re in the online education market:

Having a community of members that can help each other find their way back home is one of the most valuable assets you can have.

For yourself:

You develop a deeper relationship with your customers,

which helps to provide them with the support that they need,

which increases the effectiveness of your program,

which increases the amount of raving testimonials that you receive,

which increases the social proof and conversion rate on your offer,

which decreases customer acquisition cost,

which allows you to make a whole lot more money.

                    - - - - - - - - -

For your members:

It provides them with a community of other like minded people,

which makes them feel a part of something bigger than themself,

which gives them something to lean on when it gets challenging,

which gives them the extra support they need to push through,

which increases the effectiveness of your program as a whole,

which increases the likelihood they will refer their friends and family,

which provides a flywheel of customers begging to join,

which further reinforces the powerful community of your program.

Your members are looking for transformation. Not information.

Just like Charlie… they’re looking to find their way home.

Forget the business hacks, marketing tricks, and chasing people in the DM's...

Instead:

Create a place where they can transform themself with the help and support of like-minded people.

You will sleep soundly at night knowing your business is built on the rock-solid foundation of timeless human psychology (tribe theory)

And your bank account will thank you, immensely.

Hope this helps.
