The problem with Hard Work

business

The problem with hard work is that it’s not enough. And it's very limiting.

The construction worker shoveling dirt all day is arguably working harder than the owner of the construction company.

Yet the owner of the company is getting paid way more.

You’ve probably heard the old cliche:

You have to work hard AND work smart.

But what does that even mean when you’re looking to start and scale your online business?

This is where the concept of Leverage comes in…

The owner of the construction company is applying leverage in the form of Labor.

He hires workers to do the physical labor. And gets paid more to complete the job than he pays his labor.

Pretty straightforward, right?

But leverage comes in many forms…

The owner of the company could also apply leverage in the form of machines and equipment.

Now, one worker can do the shoveling work of 20+ by using a big machine…

It pays to design your business (and your life) to apply this concept of leverage.

Luckily, we are living in an age of infinite leverage thanks to the internet and technology…

  • You can write a book and distribute it via computer code ebook an infinite number of times without having to physically fulfill and ship each order

  • You can create an online course and sell it over and over again without increasing the cost to produce one more

  • You can write and email and deliver it to inboxes globally at the push of a button without having to hand deliver written messages

In my basketball training business I applied the concept of leverage in several forms:

One of them was instead of only training athletes 1 on 1 (or in person)…

…I produced an online course once and allowed it to do the training for me.

^ This effectively multiplied me as a human to be able to train athletes in any country at anytime (even while I was sleeping).

This is one of many forms of leverage.

And it’s something I invite you to consider applying to your business.

Hard Work + Leverage = Amplified results in your business

Where can you start to apply leverage?

That’s it for today.

I’m off to make my daily sandwich and hike up a mountain here in Whistler.
